"Fire In My Bones"

Following Jesus on his global mission is a path marked with both joy and suffering. Together, we will consider the ways that our Savior is near to us in our suffering and how his joy flows to us as we lay down our lives to proclaim his kingdom.

Speaker: Brian Phillips (Serge)
Brian grew up on a farm in rural Missouri as part of a family that loves international mission work. He majored in English at Hannibal-LaGrange University. After graduating from college, he taught high school English and remodeled houses in his neighborhood. Brian and his wife Kassie first learned about Serge when their church plant studied “The Gospel-Centered Life” together. In 2012, they moved to Southern Spain with their three young children and joined a Serge church-planting team. In 2013, they accepted leadership of the Serge Apprenticeship program in that same region. Brian assumed the role of Associate Director of Mission in 2017. Brian loves sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, speaking Spanish, learning about raising beef cattle, and exploring museums and nature with Kassie and their five young children.

"Serving in Southeast Asia: Stories & Lessons from the Field"

During this session, hear from a couple who served in a conservative province in Southeast Asia. They will give an overview of their journey which spans nearly 2 decades, including pre-field training, 9+ years serving overseas with young children, and how the ministry continues after they returned to the U.S. After the overview there will be an extended question and answer time.

Speaker: BJ
BJ grew up in New York City, where he served as youth and adult pastor for 6 years. He and his wife served in SE Asia for over 9 years, facilitating a translation project among a conservative people group without access to Scripture. They returned to the U.S in 2013 with their two children and are currently living in Philadelphia. BJ continues to facilitate the translation project and also provides help to other translation teams and ministries in various parts of the world.

"Bringing the Kingdom of God to the Unreached Through Your Profession"

Has God called you into the marketplace? Do you struggle to understand how your skills can be used by God? This public lecture will provide ways of looking at how God has used people, particularly through business, to bring His Kingdom to places where it has not existed. Biblical, historical, and current examples will be discussed, including a framework for understanding Missional Business.

Speaker: Chris Brown (WEC International)
Since 1992, after training with a Great Commission business working in Asia and Central Asia, Chris has been seeking to integrate business with mission on the field in Central Asia. After the training, he worked with the business in two different Central Asian countries for a year. In 1993 he began working with an educational company and was involved in developing the company and different projects, working as an office manager, teacher, assistant director and interim president. In 2001 together with fellow team members, Chris started a consulting company that was in operation until leaving the field in 2014. In 2010 Chris moved to a new town and reopened a branch of the education company mentioned above as well as a branch of his consulting company. In addition, Chris completed an internship and 6-month consultancy with a micro-finance company and is currently on the board of a micro-finance institution in Central Asia. Chris currently serves with WEC as the chairman of the Business Consultancy Group (BCG)/International Business Consultant. The BCG has the task of developing and implementing Missional Business strategy within WEC International.

"Sending & Supporting Your Missionaries"

A missionary’s support system is multifaceted, but nothing replaces the crucial role of their sending church. Learn more about the struggles of life on the mission field, and how you can play a unique role in loving, serving, and encouraging your missionaries from afar, in both relational and practical ways.

Speaker: JP (Tenth Presbyterian Church)
Few know the harsh realities missionaries face like JP, Tenth’s Minister of Small Groups and Global Partner Care. Of his twenty years as a Global Partner, he spent fifteen of those in the Middle East, working in areas that were largely closed to the church. He understands how partners can easily suffer from loneliness as they serve far from their home. In his pastoral role at Tenth, one of his chief duties is to initiate and sustain frequent contact with all of Tenth’s Global partners so that the church can support them in ways that might help mitigate the natural pitfalls of international service.
